5 must-haves from Louis Vuitton Cruise 2022 show From patterned coats to colorful biker boots

Louis Vuitton presented its Cruise 2022 fashion show in the city of Cergy-Pontoise, where, in 1980, Israeli sculptor Dani Karavan built the Axe Majeur, a route more than three kilometers long divided into 12 different stations that include a red bridge suspended over the water and a terrace from which there is a panoramic view of Paris. This stunning urban installation where sky, water, steel and stone seem to merge into pure beauty was the perfect set for the new creations of Nicolas Ghesquière who, commenting on his choice, told Vogue:

I like the concept of a stargate – an imaginary portal – that can transport us, our feelings and our wishes to someone or something we love. I wanted to give this jaunt of energy – a pure fashion moment in less than eight minutes – to show that those connections weren’t lost with what we experienced.

Stargate, the 1994 film directed by Roland Emmerich, is among the creative director's inspirations along with 1980s science fiction and Charles Fréger photographs documenting military uniforms, gym uniforms and traditional costumes worn by various communities around the world.
