What can we expect from the sequel of The Devil Wears Prada’s fashion? We tried to imagine the wardrobe of Miranda, Emily and Andy in the new film

Nearly twenty years after the release of David Frankel's The Devil Wears Prada,  the film remains the ultimate fusion of cinema and fashion. Naturally, the story's depiction of a fashion magazine — seemingly Vogue and the role of actress Meryl Streep as editor-in-chief Anna Wintour — facilitates such a claim. But mentions of luxury labels from the likes of Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, Chanel and Jimmy Choos have put the film on the radar of fashionistas everywhere. 

And that's not likely to change any time soon. With last year’s announcement of a Disney sequel exploring the decline of print media, the rise of luxury groups, and the impact of social media and the ever-evolving digital landscape on the industry, predictions are already being made. What will happen? Who will appear? And most importantly, what will the characters wear?

What about Andy Sachs? While Anne Hathaway's return has not yet been confirmed, hopes are high that she will be seen again in cerulean. Although Andy has left the fashion world at the end of the 2006 movie, fashion hasn’t left her — how could it?  With nothing stopping her from returning to the fashion scene in the sequel, or perhaps working in a legacy media far away from the industry, she retains her fashion sense: back or not, her style will combine practicality with subtle finesse. Labels such as Tory Burch, Prada and Tod’s will all be part of her closet — as will the legendary Chanel boots she wore during her Runway days. While not everything in cinema and fashion can be predicted —  who would have predicted Sherk 5 next year and the emergence of Walmart Birkins knock-offs? —  one thing is for sure, The Devil Wears Prada 2 will put fashion back on our screens. So everybody, gird your loins!
